Devin Hosselkus
is a 24 year-old emerging Reno artist and a recent graduate BFA student from University of Nevada, Reno.
In February, 2009, Devin was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. As a result, Devin and his family
are faced with extremely high medical bills. In response to this need, fellow artists, students, staff and faculty at
the University of Nevada Reno have come together to organize an Art Auction Benefit to take place on Sunday, May 3rd at the
Studio on 4th St..
Please join us in supporting Devin, a dearly-loved freind and artist in the Reno community. This Auction includes the work of
many well-known and emerging Northern Nevada Artists, and promises to be an amazing exhibition and event for a worthy cause.

About Devin
As an emerging artist he already made it to the front of Reno's art community by being commissioned by the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission to paint a large outdoor mural in downtown Reno celebrating the riverfront. This mural is across from City Hall.

For over a year and a half he was the main preparator for installing and de-installing all exhibitions at Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery at UNR, where he quickly became a highly recognized staff member and gained the great following of other students and young artists alike who volunteered to help him in the gallery on a regular basis.
For his amazing artwork as both student and gallery assistant skills, Devin received the
Dean's
Award for Artistry last year. Devin also worked as a lead teacher in the summer of 2008 for Youth Art Works,
a local organization.
Devin's artwork was recognized by the Vermont Studio Center, where he was accepted for a prestigious artist residency that was supposed to happen in the month of April 2009. However, Devin's plans took a turn in another direction after experiencing a strange pain in his leg that didn't get better over time. In February of this year, Devin discovered he has a very rare and life-threatening form of pediatric cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma, which started in the right thigh and metastasized into his lungs.
Devin and Students at UNR

For 30 weeks Devin will have
chemotherapy treatments at two-week intervals at
University of California, San Francisco Children's Hospital,
where his parents and sister rented an apartment a couple blocks away from the hospital to stay during the sessions.
In order to support Devin with mounting medical bills and the commute cost between Reno and San Francisco,
a consortium of local organizations, students and friends are coming together to host a Silent Art Auction
Benefit in Devin's honor.
Please join us on Sunday May 3rd at
Studio on 4th, from 2pm to 5pm, with the
auction closing at 4pm. Refreshments will be served.
Please join us to support Devin and remind him how much he is loved and appreciated.
